Most MVP Medicare Plans include a transportation benefit that provides rides to and from non-emergency medical appointments at no cost.*
Using Your Transportation Benefits
You can use this benefit for rides to your:
- Primary Care Provider
- Eye Doctor
- Chiropractor
- Oncologist
- Behavioral Health Provider
- Dentist
- Pharmacy
One “ride” is each leg of a trip, up to 30 miles, to or from your destination. If you schedule a ride to your doctor’s office and then another ride home, it counts as two rides.
To schedule a ride, call American Logistics at 1-855-923-4125 (TTY 711) Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm.
Do not use this service if you have a life-threatening emergency. For serious and life-threatening emergencies, please dial 911.
*Benefit is only available on select MVP Medicare Advantage, UVM Health Advantage, and MVP DualAccess plans. If you have Medicare from an employer, you may not have a transportation benefit. Be sure to review your EOC or speak with the person who administers your health benefits.
More Tips for Using this Benefit
- Schedule ahead! While you must schedule at least 48 hours ahead to guarantee a ride, we recommend scheduling up to a week in advance.
- If you need to cancel, call American Logistics at least two hours before your scheduled pick-up time or the trip may still count as one of your covered rides.
- To find out how many rides remain in your allowance, call American Logistics.
- Request door-to-door service for help in and out of the vehicle.
- Ask about special accommodations if you are in a wheelchair or unable to walk.
- If you need transportation for a stretcher, please call MVP Medicare Customer Care for prior approval. The phone number is on the back of your Member ID card.
- You can bring a companion (or companion animal) at no extra charge. Be sure to include this information when you schedule your ride.
- For members with a UVM Health Advantage Plan, each leg of a trip is up to 60 miles, to or from your destination.
